Creating and utilising tailored treatment plans for your animal in order to get the best out of physiotherapy, achieving goals, enhancing performance whilst improving, balance, suppleness, muscular strength and the way of movement

Remedial exercises cover a whole range of beneficial exercises from stretching to equine lunging and pole work. These exercises will be specific with a tailor-made treatment plan composed for each patient.

The best and quickest rehabilitation results are seen when the owner spends time carrying out some set exercises with their animals between sessions.

Forming an important basis of treatment involving massage therapy, myofascial release, stretches, joint mobilisations and manipulations

Manual therapies are targeted at promoting relaxation and blood flow to target areas, providing pain relief, treating muscle tension and trigger points as well as enabling correct movement and enhancing comfort in your animal.

Electrotherapies

Following peer reviewed research, there are many known benefits surrounding a whole range of electrotherapies and their use in animal physiotherapy.

I currently offer Class 3B LASER therapy,

H-Wave therapy, Therapeutic ultrasound and TENS with my treatments.

LASER therapy

Low level LASER therapy promotes controlled stimulation and modulation of biological activity within the body without significant heat changes. LASER will act as a trigger for the alteration of cellular metabolic processes. It has been beneficially proven in treating soft tissue injuries, joint conditions such as Osteoarthritis, promoting wound healing, and perhaps most importantly providing pain relief to the patient. I am positive that you will see beneficial effects from LASER when treating your animal.

TENS

TENS.jpg

(Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) offers pain relief to chronic injuries by activating the pain gate mechanism within the body. Benefits of TENS are particularly seen during maintenance treatment over a longer treatment time.

Thermotherapies

A simple yet effective mechanism, the use of heat and cold in veterinary physiotherapy can be particularly beneficial in promoting pain relief, increased circulation and providing relaxation and increased movement in the animal.

Heat therapy - is generally used for treatment of chronic injuries, or prior to exercises in order to stimulate blood flow to the muscles, increasing elasticity of joints and consequently improving performance.

Cryotherapy (cold)- can be utilised to promote the healing cascade, target specific areas to reduce pain and inflammation increasing comfort in your animal.

Advice and support to owners

As a veterinary physiotherapist, despite the health, wellbeing and welfare of your animal being my number one priority, I endeavour to be there to offer advice and support to my clients to help reassure through the rehabilitation processes, support the success of events and work together when creating home exercise plans to ensure that your animal gets as many benefits as possible out of every physiotherapy session.

Providing clinical reasoning behind my treatments and keeping up to date with new research, I endeavour to provide first class physiotherapy to all my clients.
